What is CIRS?
CIRS stands for Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome.
CIRS is a complex illness caused by immune system dysregulation, following exposure to a biotoxin producing organism. The chronic inflammation that results can lead to multiple organ system dysfunction. Patients will often present with numerous symptoms spanning a large number of body systems.
Organ systems impacted by CIRS include gastrointestinal, neuro-endocrine, musculoskeletal and immune. Inflammation is initiated when the body is incapable of removing specific toxins, including biotoxins, neurotoxins and endotoxins.
Once this inflammatory cascade begins, patients become chronically ill and may require extensive treatment. (Survivingmold.com)

What is PANS/PANDAS?
PANS/PANDAS are misdirected immune responses that result in acute onset of OCD, tics, restricted food intake, and neuropsychiatric symptoms such as severe anxiety, sensory abnormalities, rage, depression, regression and more.
If the onset of these symptoms is linked to a strep infection, it’s called PANDAS.
If it’s related to other triggers, it’s called PANS. Stanford Children’s Health says that the cause of PANS is triggered by infections caused by mycoplasma, lyme, mold, inflammatory reactions and metabolic disturbances.
It is possible to have both PANS and PANDAS.
